About Us
Creating trauma-informed spaces where everyone feels seen, heard
and validated for who they are and what they're experiencing.
Inward is a mental health and awareness platform dedicated to breaking the silence around trauma, abuse, and life’s everyday struggles. We believe healing begins when people feel safe to speak, be heard, and connect with compassionate support that validates their lived experiences with care.

Our Story
Inward began as a simple desire to turn pain into something that could help others feel less alone.

In 2019, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Shanghai, founder Lorraine Le wanted to do something small to support others who had experienced trauma and mental health struggles like she once had. With the support of private donors and the Community Centre Shanghai, what started as a personal effort to raise awareness and funds for individuals struggling, slowly grew into a community of people who shared the same wish—
to bring light to the quiet pain so many carry in silence.

Lorraine’s own journey through sexual trauma, PTSD, motherhood, and rebuilding her life gave Inward its heart and purpose: to create spaces where people feel safe to speak, be heard, and supported without judgment. Her hope was to ease the unnecessary suffering and isolation that too often follow when people feel unable to seek help.

Since then, Inward has provided free and subsidised counselling to survivors or domestic violence, sexual trauma and mental health struggles, alongside trauma-informed training and outreach. It continues to bridge the gap between lived experience and professional care—working with schools, hospitals, consulates, to empower frontline responders to provide trauma-informed, compassionate support that is anchored through the lens of lived experience.

Inward’s mission is to end the silence and shame surrounding trauma and mental health by creating spaces, services, and resources that humanise life struggles as part of the human experience. Through empathy, awareness, and open conversation, we strive to inspire courage, healing, and connection.
